Yes, it's the rarest gem on Earth, and that's what I'm dealing with for almost 20 years...I supply companies and individual designers with cut demantoids, no rough, sorry...These unique gem stones are available on my site....and they are the best! Why? It's simple...they are from Russia, and they are cut in Russia too! Believe me, Russians know what they're doing...every little piece of rough was carefully examined and cut... with Love! Every stone is filled with warmth of hands of the most beautiful Russian girls from Ekaterinburg'...beauty plus beauty equals divine!...
These prized gems are very rare demantoids ranging in color from rich emerald-green to various shades of yellow-green, the first being most in demand...The gem became famous for its unique characteristics, such as its high index of reflection (1.89) and dispersion ("fire"); (0.057, diamond is 0.044). Hardness(Mohs) is 6.5 to 7.
Demantoid is the chromium-green gem variety of andradite garnet discovered in the Central Ural Mountains of Russia in the mid 19th century. Thanks to Finnish minerologist, Nils Nordensheld, the gem got this name, which means "diamond-like"...
Demantoid was very popular in Russia from about 1875 to 1920. Carl Faberge and other court jewelers used the gem in their fabulous creations. New York's Tiffany & Co. had its chief gemologist, George F.Kuntz, travel to Russia to buy demantoids.
But.... now you don't have to travel that far! Just e-mail me
and the stone(s) will be delivered to your door. Also, you may consider buying demantoids is a good investment too! Because the price per carat is moving up every year! Hurry up! best colors are sold fast!
Most of the stones hand-diamond cut, rounds, sometimes I got antique cushions, but very rare....different sizes and colors, please contact me and specify what kind of stone(s) do you like.
e.g. The above stone is of almost impossible size for demantoid - 4.55cts! It's a world-class piece! most stones tend to be less than 1ct.
This beauty is 2.56cts, I have only two stones now of this shape.
